| R & L Merlino started off as
a small family business in 1980 with the selling of Marcel Bruer
Chairs in the Perth marketplace. In 18 months the business had progressed
to the purchase of their first warehouse, the employment of staff
and the expansion of the furniture range imported from Italy. With
this plan in action Ross Merlino was able to expand his clientele
Australia wide.
Over the next few years the company had excelled in growth throughout
Australia. Ross Merlino and his brother Aldo Merlino ventured
into Sydney in 1989, with the opening of Merlino Furniture Imports.
Sydney's operation is again a credit to its success and has moved
and expanded over the time to handle the increased sales.
During this period Mr Ross Merlino formed a buying group known
as The "Global Group of Companies". This group consisted
of Artemis Imports (Queensland), Merlino Furniture Imports Pty Limited (Sydney), Collage (New Zealand)
and Merlino Furniture (Perth - Head Office). With the Group formed,
they were able to buy competitively, have a larger database to
source new products and in turn dominate the Australasian market.
With continuing success, Merlino Furniture Perth, relocated in
1999 to a specialized warehouse and showroom (66000sq feet) and
is a major player in the Perth wholesale market. The Global Group
of Companies is now importing between 1000 - 1500 containers per
year, from countries all around the world. We currently have offices
in Italy and Philippines and are exclusive agents for such companies
as Alf , Nicoletti and Lao.
